What kind of quality control checks do you have in place as far as the process flow of work?

We have several processes in place to ensure our parts meet your quality needs. These services include first piece inspection, in-process inspection, QMS, OSHA, PPAP, IMDS, and conflict minerals

Do you have the ability to change my design and make something different?

Yes. We have the ability to manipulate CAD Files if requested. All modified files must be approved by the customer before production will begin

How tightly can you control the tolerances of our specs?

With our state of the art machines, we have the ability to control linear tolerances of flat parts up to 0.15 mm. For formed parts we can hold a linear tolerance of up to 0.5 mm and 0.3 degrees.

What kind fixturing ability do you have?

We offer custom fabricated fixtures based off of your model. The fixtures are designed, produced and qualified in house.

Why are there so many different types of powder?

We recommend powders based on the parts application. For indoor parts regularly exposed to machinery or oil, we would recommend an epoxy powder as it excels in oil resistance. On the other hand, if your part is for outdoor use, we would offer a Polyester based powder due to its high UV resistance as well as its durability, hardness, and longevity. Both types of powder come in a large variety of colors.

Can powder coated parts rust?

Depending on the application, yes. If you application requires additional protection, we recommend a zinc-rich primer underneath the top coat. This will give the part a much higher resistance to rusting without affecting the overall look of the part

Does GLPC Fab E-Coat?

Not at this time. GLPC Fab currently sublets this service

What’s the difference between E-Coating and A-Coating?

E-Coating does not go inside of a tube. A-Coating goes all the way through the tube, which will give you 100% performance and durability

Do you do any assembly work?

Yes. Depending on the application, GLPC Fab will assemble our customers components

What type of assembly does GLPC Fab perform?

We offer various amounts of light assembly work from adding part labels to assembling electrical cabinets.

How do you base your costs on powder?

Cost is based off of square footage, metal thickness, metal alloy, length of parts, type of powder, and volume

What’s the price difference between standard RAL colors and custom colors?

Custom colors can be up to 6 times more expensive than standard RAL colors. There is also a 18-24 week lead time to get a custom color match formulated and a tested sample mailed for approval

What is the temperature to cure powder?

Temperature varies based on powder and manufacture. We follow the manufactures recommended cure temperature and time. We also preform a MEK test to ensure all powder is cured Completely.

If I gave you something to powder coat, can I give it to you assembled, or does it have to be taken a part?

Depends on the part. If your part is all metal(no rubber or plastic) it can be done assembled. If your part contains anything that is not metal, it must be taken apart before being powder coated

What about my threaded studs and tapped holes? I don’t want them to be powder-filled!

It is standard procedure to cap, plug, or tape all threaded studs and holes. We also can tape off machined surfaces as well.

What is the maximum length one can powder coat at GLPC Fab?

25’ x 12’ x 10’

Do you do media blasting in-house?

Yes, we can media blast up to 30’ x 12’ x 10’.

What is the thickest steel you can cut on your laser?

We can cut 1″ steel, aluminum, and stainless on our fiber sheet laser

What is the thickest you can with your router, and what material can you cut?

we can cut most non ferrous materials as well as foam and wood up to 1″ Thick and hold a tolerance of five thousandths

Does GLPC Fab do any CNC machining in house?

Not at this time. GLPC Fab currently sublets this service

What types of metals can you weld?

We can weld Steel, Galvanized, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel

Can you stainless steel weld?

Yes, we can

Can you spot weld?

Yes, we can

Can you stud weld?

No we cannot

Is it necessary to pre-treat before any powder coating?

Yes, it must be done(either by chemical or media blast)

Can your pre-treatment treat extruded aluminum?

Yes we can. With Aluminum there is an additional bonding agent that we apply in house to increase the adhesion of the powder. Alternatively, we can media blast the parts

Do you guys only spray black?

No. We offer a large variety of powder we store in house. If we do not have the color you are looking for on hand, we can always order it.

Does GLPC Fab do Teflon coating?

No. Not at this time.

Can GLPC Fab do ceramic coating?

No. Not at this time.

If I bring in many parts, what type of packaging do you offer and how is this charged out?

We can include the packaging(for a cost) or a customer can supply their own packaging. We recommend customers supply their own dunnage for high-volume transporting purposes.
